RAPID CITY, SD – Visit Santa at Main Street Square in Downtown Rapid City, on Saturday, Dec. 6 and 13, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The events are free and open to all ages.
While visiting Santa, visit vendors at Main Street Square for locally-made products and shop at Downtown businesses. Photos with Santa are available at a cost.
Free horse-drawn carriage rides will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Each ride lasts approximately 10 minutes and takes riders through Downtown Rapid City.
A holiday-themed movie will be shown each Saturday at dusk. An additional holiday movie will be shown on Saturday, Dec. 20.
On Saturday, Dec. 6, the Rapid City Police Department and Rapid City Fire Department will face off in a broomball game at 11 a.m.
The ice skating rink will be open each day. For more information on the ice skating rink, such as schedule, price for skating and rentals, rules and more, visit the website.
“Main Street Square is truly a winter wonderland during the holidays,” said Megan Whitman, executive director of Main Street Square. “Come down to visit Santa, shop or just to experience a magical feeling. Children and adults are laughing on the rink, excited children are running out of the Santa House eager to tell their parents what they asked for, and others are smiling as they find the perfect gift at a vendor booth or Downtown shop.”
Santa on the Square and Winter Market is sponsored by Family Thrift Center, Prairie Market and Black Hills Surgical Hospital. Family Thrift Center and Prairie Market staff will distribute warm drinks and treats at the event, with proceeds benefiting a local nonprofit organization.
