Musical Ambassadors of the US Navy, Navy Band Great Lakes’ Liberty Call, are bringing a patriotic showcase of America’s indigenous art form, Jazz, to Main Street Square. Liberty Call’s current show presents the blues soaked, swing band repertoire associated with the early 20th century American Midwest. With a heavy dose of inspiration from Kansas City’s Count Basie Orchestra, Liberty Call will swing out with instrumental showcases featuring some of the finest sailor musicians in the Navy, as well as vocal renditions from the Great American Songbook including selections by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and Billie Holiday. Bring your dancing shoes and enjoy the rare swing-era experience of a live American Big Band, courtesy of the United Sates Navy.

Liberty Call is an ensemble which performs a wide range of musical genres, spanning from traditional New Orleans-style Jazz to modern-day Popular Music, including, but not limited to, Country, Rock, Jazz, and Blues. Under the direction of Unit Leader Musician First Class Garrett Stephan, Liberty Call is the most versatile ensemble within Navy Band Great Lakes. Liberty Call is capable of performing at a variety of venues, from festivals to outdoor concerts. Liberty Call is ready to serve by providing a show that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for audience members of all ages!
