Interactive Fountains set to flow at Main Street Square

Tuesday, May 9, 2018

DOWNTOWN RAPID CITY, SD – The interactive fountains at Main Street Square are set to begin running on Friday, May 25.

During warm months, the fountains run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and feature a light show after sunset. Watch as the water dances along to music, while changing color.

“It’s wonderful to see all the children having fun running through the fountains,” said Elizabeth Smith, Events Director of Main Street Square. “At night the fountains turn into our very own kaleidoscope of colors, it’s truly a treasure to see.”

The interactive water feature will not run when temperatures are cooler than 55 degrees Fahrenheit, when winds are more than 25 miles per hour or in the event of severe weather. In the event of smaller wind gusts, the feature will run at half-mast. Main Street Square’s events and fountain maintenance may also impact the fountain. For the most up-to-date schedule on fountain closures, visit www.MainStreetSquareRC.com/fountains/schedule.html.

Each year in early October the interactive fountains, where the young and young at heart can play, are winterized. The feature is located in the oval in the middle of Main Street Square where the ice skating rink is built each November.
