RAPID CITY, SD –On Sunday, Aug. 20, Main Street Square partnered with the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology to clean up Rapid Creek during the SD Mines 2017 Freshmen Day of Service.

Main Street Square staff worked with eight SD Mines freshmen for approximately four hours removing trash from Rapid Creek spanning from the M Hill footbridge to Roosevelt Park, including Memorial Park and Memorial Pond. The group filled more than 30 32-gallon bags with trash.

Main Street Square was one of 13 community partners who participated in this year’s Freshmen Day of Service, which is a yearly effort encouraging student volunteers to give back to the Rapid City community.

This project continues Main Street Square and Destination Rapid City’s mission and commitment to sustaining a vibrant city center through community partnerships with organizations such as SD Mines.

“We’re honored to have SD Mines as community partners and enjoy working with them throughout the year during events Downtown and at Main Street Square,” said Destination Rapid City President and CEO, Dan Senftner.
