More Than 30 Beers Available at Main Street Square Spring Beer Tasting

DOWNTOWN RAPID CITY, SD – Main Street Square’s fourth annual Frühlingsfest and Spring Market, a spring beer tasting and market event, is set for Saturday, May 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Progress Sponsor, Holiday Inn - Rushmore Plaza.

With tasting glass in hand, browse the Spring Market featuring an assortment of handcrafted and upcycled items, local artisan designs and foods, and area small businesses. Enjoy live music from singer/songwriter Elliott Graber throughout the event.

Sample a selection of more than 30 beers, including craft beers from local breweries, during the ticketed beer tasting. Tastings begin at noon. The Black Hills Beer Beverage Garden will be open to the public beginning at 11 a.m. and available to those who do not wish to purchase a tasting pass. The event is free and open to all ages. IDs are required to consume alcohol.

“Frühlingsfest has grown into a spring tradition for craft beer enthusiasts in Downtown Rapid City,” said Megan Whitman, executive director of Main Street Square. “Local breweries will be on hand pouring samples, as well as new and seasonal brews from Rapid City distributors.”

Unlimited tasting passes may be purchased for $25 in advance or the day of the event. Each pass holder will receive a wrist band for unlimited beer tastings and a souvenir pilsner glass, and all pre-purchased tasting pass holders will receive a free pretzel necklace. The first 100 people to pre-purchase an unlimited tasting pass will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win two free tasting passes to Main Street Square’s Bierbörse on Saturday, Oct. 7. One name will be drawn after the pre-sale closes at noon on Friday, May 5. The winner will be notified between noon and 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 5.

Pre-purchased tasting passes will be available for pick up on the day of the event at Will Call in the Visitor Information Center, located on the north side of Main Street Square. Tasting passes, and additional pretzel necklaces ($2) and souvenir pilsner glasses ($3) may also be purchased at this location on the day of the event. 

Extend your day Downtown with shopping and dining, while enjoying free parking in all Downtown public lots, metered spaces on the streets, and in the parking ramp near Main Street Square all day on Saturday, May 6.
