DOWNTOWN RAPID CITY, SD – Celebrate Halloween in Downtown Rapid City during Downtown Trick-or-Treat and Scare in the Square, sponsored by The Shops at Main Street Square, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. The events are a collaboration between the Rapid City Downtown Business Group and Main Street Square.

Visit participating businesses for candy and other treats during the Rapid City Downtown Business Group’s sixth annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat. Candy for Downtown Trick-or-Treat has been purchased locally at Zoom Soda & Candy and Sugar Sweet.

Main Street Square’s Scare in the Square will feature tons of ghostly family fun on Sixth Street, including the Regional Health and Scull Construction Kidz Zone.

Both events are free. Children and parents are encouraged to wear costumes, bring their own trick-or-treat bags and meet at Main Street Square, where they may pick up a map of participating Downtown businesses at the corner of Sixth and Main streets.

“Tiny ghouls and goblins will invade Downtown Rapid City during these family friendly Halloween events,” said Megan Whitman, executive director of Main Street Square. “The children love walking up and down the streets collecting candy in costume, while parents have the opportunity to explore a variety of shops in our vibrant downtown.”

Participating Downtown businesses will be identified with a Downtown Trick-or-Treat Participant flier in their store windows. A list of participating businesses will also be available online at

Downtown motorists are asked to be aware of trick-or-treaters throughout the day. Crossing guards will be assisting with the Downtown Trick-or-Treat event, but participants are asked to cross the streets with care.

Enjoy free parking all day in all Downtown public lots, metered spaces on the streets, and in the parking ramp near Main Street Square on Saturday, Oct. 29.
