RAPID CITY, SD – Marshall Star, a country and variety band, will kick off the Main Street Square Concert Series on Thursday, June 2, from 6 to 9 p.m.
A wide variety of new bands will hit the stage with last year’s favorites on Thursday nights from June 2 to Sept. 1. The Main Street Square Concert Series Major Event Sponsor is Black Hills Federal Credit Union.
The event is held in conjunction with Summer Nights, bringing 28 unique bands to Downtown Rapid City throughout the summer months.
This year’s event will feature the Regional Health and Scull Construction Kidz Zone encompassing Sixth St., with the Main Street Square Fun Express train and inflatable bounce houses. Families will find great shopping, dining and entertainment at their fingertips while they are Downtown. Concert goers can purchase an assortment of refreshments at the Bud Light Beverage Garden and visit one of the food vendors on Sixth St.
“Thursday nights will be rocking in Downtown Rapid City,” said Megan Whitman, executive director of Main Street Square. “We can’t wait to see everyone dancing on the lawn during the Main Street Square Concert Series.”
The Series Entertainment Co-Sponsors are Vast Broadband, and Family Thrift Center and Prairie Market. Weekly Entertainment Co-Sponsors include Black Hills Energy, Liberty Tax Service, Black Hills State University – Rapid City, Holiday Inn – Rushmore Plaza, VA Healthcare, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, and Firehouse Brewing Company.

July 7: The Highwaymen Live, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash tribute band
July 14: Kahuna Beach Party, a Beach Boys tribute, and 60s, 70s, 80s cover band
July 21: Badlands House Band, rock and outlaw country cover band; with special guest opener The Groove Project, funk, soul, blues band
July 28: 80’s Station, new wave, old school hip-hop and 80s rock band
Aug. 4: Dogs Without Sweaters, “Honoring our Patriots Night,” classic rock cover band
Aug. 11: James Otto, “Rally Special Edition Concert,” Grammy Award nominated songwriter and country artist; with special guest opener Forgotten Highway, country and rock variety
Aug. 18: Crash Wagon, “SDSM&T Hardrocker Night,” country, classic rock and blues cover band
Aug. 25: The Suspects, rock, jazz and blues cover band
