RAPID CITY, SD – Event planners and future brides and grooms can find everything they need at [Love]² Bridal Fair on Sunday, Aug. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is brought to you in partnership by Main Street Square, Black Hills Bride and the Hotel Alex Johnson.
The third annual bridal show features the latest ideas from wedding and special occasion exhibitors, contract specials from businesses offered exclusively at the event, giveaways, and entertainment. The entertainment co-sponsors are Cadey Reisner Weddings and Neugebauer’s Fine Jewelry.
Wedding and special occasion vendor booths will line Main Street Square and Sixth St., featuring venues, photographers, DJs, caterers, décor rentals, cosmetic consultants and more. Be sure to grab your free copy of the 2016 Black Hills Bride magazine, which will be available at multiple locations at the event.
Live musical performances will feature Nick Linn at 11 a.m. and Barrett Hemmings at 12:30 p.m. Bridal fashion shows will be held by Love Struck Bridal Boutique on the Hotel Alex Johnson Stage located on Sixth St. at 1 p.m. and by Audra’s Bridal Gallery on the Main Street Square stage at 2 p.m.
“[Love]² Bridal Fair brings together a day of fashion, special occasion exhibitors and other resources for couples and event planners in the heart of Downtown Rapid City,” said Megan Whitman, executive director of Main Street Square. “It makes wedding planning a fun and memorable experience for all involved.”
Brides are encouraged to RSVP to [Love]² Bridal Fair. The first 175 brides to RSVP will receive a free swag bag and will be automatically entered in door prize drawings (must be present to win). This event is free to attend and pre-registration is not required. Attendees are encouraged to bring a toiletry item as a donation to Mommy's Closet, a free crisis resource provider that lends a helping hand to moms, dads, and families with children under the age of five.
[Love]² Bridal Fair segues into Rapid City's Biggest Bachelorette Party at the Hotel Alex Johnson Ballroom from 4 to 5 p.m. All brides are invited to the party, which will feature bachelorette party games, prizes, a bar, and bachelorette party vendor booths.
Grooms can join in on the fun at Paddy O'Neill's, also located in the Hotel Alex Johnson, which will offer specials on drinks and appetizers from 2 to 4 p.m. The Bud Light Beverage Garden will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will provide one complimentary mimosa for all brides 21 years of age and older, with a valid ID.
The second annual Trash the Dress competition is an opportunity to be creative and raise money for local non-profit Mommy’s Closet. Audra’s Bridal Gallery has donated six dresses to be trashed by teams of brides and local businesses. All six teams will “trash” their dress anyway they would like, as long as it is still recognizable as a wedding dress. The trashed dresses will be displayed during [Love]2 Bridal Fair at ID check stations, where attendees will cast their vote by placing a donation in the container at their favorite dress. The dress with the most donations will win a pedicure for five at Mystique Edge Day Spa and a gift certificate to Firehouse Wine Cellars. A portion of the money raised will be given to Mommy’s Closet. The winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m. on the Main Street Square Stage. The dresses will also be displayed during the Main Street Square Concert Series featuring Crash Wagon on Thursday, Aug. 18.
New to the event this year is Cash for Contracts. Three lucky brides will get a portion of their contract paid for by Main Street Square, just for signing at [Love]2 Bridal Fair. Brides who put down a deposit with vendors on the day of the event are eligible to win up to $250 (10% of the contract, up to $250) toward their wedding. Brides must bring their signed contract and/or receipt indicating the contracted amount to the Information Tent no later than 3:45 p.m. to be included in the drawing. The Cash for Contracts drawing will take place on the Main Street Square stage at the closing of the event. Brides who sign multiple contracts can enter multiple times, but can only win once. You do not need to be present to win.
