RAPID CITY, SD –Downtown Rapid City will celebrate Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 31, in a collaboration between the Rapid City Downtown Business Group and Main Street Square.
The Rapid City Downtown Business Group’s fifth annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Children and parents are asked to bring their own trick-or-treat bags and meet at Main Street Square, where they may pick up maps for the participating Downtown businesses.
Main Street Square’s Scare in the Square, from 1 to 5 p.m., will feature dance performances by Hot Shots, Black Hills Bettys and the YMCA. Also from 2 to 4 p.m., children may pose for photos with Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King in front of a Halloween backdrop. Parents are encouraged to bring their own cameras for the photo opportunity, as a photographer will not be provided.
From 1 to 5 p.m., there will be family entertainment with JDProductions and the Regional Health Kidz Zone. Booths will be open hosted by Black Hills Parent Magazine, City of Rapid City – Recycling, Pennington 4-H, Pennington County Sheriff’s Department, Spinchroncity, Scheel’s, Watiki, Pumpkin Kutter, KZ’s Barbeque, Rolling Cupcake, Caramel Creations and more.
“Everyone is invited to visit Downtown, dress up and have fun,” said Megan Whitman, executive director of Main Street Square. “This is a great opportunity to explore Downtown Rapid City and see what the businesses have to offer.”
Participating Downtown businesses will be identified with a Downtown Trick-or-Treat Participant flier in their store windows.
All participants are urged to wear costumes, and Downtown motorists are asked to be aware of trick-or-treaters throughout the day. Crossing guards will be assisting with the Downtown Trick-or-Treat event, but participants are asked to cross the streets with care.
