RAPID CITY, SD – Celebrate the Grand Opening of Legacy Commons Playground on Saturday, April 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will coincide with Main Street Square’s Eggstravaganza and will include an Easter egg hunt in the playground featuring 7,000 eggs.
Mayor Sam Kooiker will present a proclamation at 11 a.m. in Legacy Commons Playground, and the egg hunt will immediately follow.
Activities will resume at Main Street Square following the egg hunt. The Easter bunny will be on hand and children may get their faces painted by the Miss Rapid City Scholarship Foundation participants or hula hoop with Spinchronocity. Family Thrift Center and Prairie Market will provide a children’s activity. The Black Hills Community Bank firetruck will be giving rides from 2 to 3 p.m.
Other activities include a petting zoo, inflatable bounce houses and other children activities.
Children are also invited to showcase their creativity in a coloring contest, for a chance to win an egg-celent basket of prizes from Who's Toy House, Who's Game House and Who's Hobby House. The Easter Bunny will present winners in each age group with Easter baskets at 1 p.m. on the Main Street Square stage. The deadline for the contest is Wednesday, April 1. Coloring pages may be picked up at Who’s Game House, Who’s Hobby House, Who’s Toy House, or the Main Street Square office. They may also be downloaded from MainStreetSquareRC.com.
The event is free to attend, and is sponsored by Family Thrift Center, Prairie Market and Black Hills Community Bank. Media Sponsor is Rushmore Media Company. Family Thrift Center and Prairie Market staff will be on site to provide a children’s activity.
