Tree arrives at Main Street Square on Nov. 19

RAPID CITY, SD – A 50-foot spruce tree will arrive at Main Street Square on Wednesday, Nov. 19, between 10 and 11 a.m.

The tree has been donated by Chapel Lane Village Homes Association from the yard of Clayton and Nellie Southwick at 3554 Chapel Lane Rd., and will be removed due to traffic safety concerns. The spruce will be cut down, transported and trimmed by Baker Timber, of Rapid City. The tree will be craned into the Square by D&W Crane, of Rapid City.

Kennedy’s Window Cleaning, of Rapid City, will decorate the tree. A lighting ceremony will be held at the Holiday Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 5:30 p.m.

Northwestern Engineering Company is sponsoring holiday lighting at Main Street Square.

Main Street Square’s ice skating rink will open on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. with Skates-giving Food Drive, to help stock the Cornerstone Rescue Mission pantry. Operating hours vary, the schedule is posted on The ice rink may be closed to open skating during events or due to weather. All closings are posted on Main Street Square’s website, and may be found by clicking on the Ice Skating tab.
