RAPID CITY, SD – The Rapid City Downtown Association and Main Street Square announce a partnership with Summer Nights Inc. for Thursday night concerts during the summer.
Free live music will be offered on two stages in Downtown Rapid City for residents and visitors, with both venues setting a special kick-off event on May 28, expanding each series to 14 weeks in 2015. The music will continue on Thursdays through Aug. 27. Summer Nights Inc. will soon submit a permit to the Rapid City City Council for its stage.
New this year, the Summer Concert Series at Main Street Square will host an expanded kids’ zone in Pedestrian Alley and on Sixth St. beside the Square. Summer Nights will continue to host its band on Seventh St., with the stage located on the south side of St. Joseph St. on Seventh St. Seventh St. will close at 3 p.m. to allow for set up. St. Joseph St. will close at 5:30 p.m. from the alleyway west of US Bank to the crosswalk east of Seventh St.
“The partnership between the Rapid City Downtown Association and Summer Nights will result in a bigger footprint with even higher visibility of local shops and restaurants,” said Suzette Cuny, membership coordinator of Rapid City Downtown Association. “We are excited about a long-term working relationship.”
