RAPID CITY, SD – Family Thrift Center was named the Rapid City Downtown Association’s 2014 Downtown Hero at the organization’s annual meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the Journey Museum.
Family Thrift Center has shown dedication and support in sponsorship and partnership to Downtown Rapid City.
“They help make at least 40 events possible at Main Street Square, and are one of our largest donors of candy for the Rapid City Downtown Association Trick-or-Treat,” said Suzette Cuny, membership coordinator.
Each sponsorship at Main Street Square allows Family Thrift Center to host a food booth, where they donate proceeds to nonprofit organizations across the community.
“Family Thrift Center’s generosity and support has helped make the revitalization and success of Downtown Rapid City a reality,” Cuny said.
The Rapid City Downtown Association Downtown Hero award was reestablished in 2010, as a way for the association to recognize an individual or business who has dedicated their time and efforts to further the efforts of Downtown and the Rapid City Downtown Association mission. The member must be in good standing, must advocate for Downtown Rapid City and must participate in collaborative promotion. Rapid City Downtown Association members had the opportunity to submit nominations in July.
