Elise, a red-tailed hawk, is having a Bird Day at the third annual Earth Day Celebration at Main Street Square, sponsored by Scull Construction. The event is set for 1 to 5 p.m. on April 26.
Elise is a resident at the Black Hills Raptor Center, and will be featured with other birds at two performances, at 1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. The Black Hills Raptor Center will also have a booth featuring merchandise and giveaways in honor of Elise who is turning 25 years old.
Between the bird performances, meet Fluffy and Marilyn from Reptile Gardens from 2 to 3 p.m.
Bring aluminum to recycle with Habitat for Humanity ReStore, get your photo taken with a seven-foot inflatable Smokey the Bear, and check out four supermileage vehicles presented by the CAMP teams at the School of Mines & Technology.
Kids can create crafts made with recycled materials with Rapid City High School, have fun with Outdoor Campus-West and hula hoop with Spinchroncity.
“Help us celebrate our planet at the Earth Day Celebration,” said Main Street Square Executive Director Megan Whitman. “The variety of projects presented by local organizations and businesses are phenomenal, educational and provide something the whole family will enjoy.”
Other organizations and businesses with booths include Clean Water Alliance, Pacific Steel & Recycling, Izaak Walton League, Breadroot Natural Food Co-op, Dakota Rural Action, Superior Siding, PURE Body Products, Shaklee Distribution and Rapid City Hens.
Food and beverages will be available from the Mixed booth, and Downtown restaurants.
