Veterans Day Program to feature Airmen

RAPID CITY, SD – Col. Kevin Kennedy and Maj. Frank Biancardi II will speak at Main Street Square on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The morning program will also feature Pastor Herb Cleveland, a retired military chaplain, and a performance by the Dakota Choral Union, leading up to a parade organized by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1273, at 11 a.m.

“We at Destination Rapid City and Main Street Square continue to work with Colonel Kennedy and staff at the Ellsworth Air Force Base to invite and welcome men and women and their families to Rapid City while they are serving our country,” said Dan Senftner, President and CEO of Destination Rapid City.

Col. Kevin Kennedy is commander of the 28th Bomb Wing, Ellsworth Air Force Base, the largest B-1 combat wing in the U.S. Air Force. Colonel Kennedy received his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1990. He has served in a variety of flying and staff positions. Prior to this assignment, he was the Director of the U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff’s Strategic Studies Group at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Colonel Kennedy is a command pilot with more than 3,200 flight hours in the B-1B and T-38 Talon.

Maj Frank A. Biancardi II is a B-1 Bomber Instructor Pilot and Assistant Director of Operations at the 28th Bomb Wing, 28th Operations Support Squadron, Ellsworth Air Force Base. Major Biancardi received his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2002. He has served in a variety of flying positions and is also a qualified Jump Master having served with 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division as an Air Liaison Officer. Major Biancardi is a senior pilot with more than 2,000 flight hours in the B-1B Bomber and T-38 Talon.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided by Destination Rapid City.
