RAPID CITY, SD – A beer stock exchange will be set up at the Bud Light Beverage Garden at Main Street Square’s third annual Bierbörse on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The word German Bierbörse translates to beer stock exchange, and Main Street Square staff have purchased software to run a stock exchange.

The price of beer will vary from $1 to $8, and price is dependent on demand. For example, if Crow Peak Pile O’ Dirt Porter is very popular, the price will rise. If no one is drinking Sam Adams Octoberfest, the price will plummet. If someone then orders a Sam Adams Octoberfest, the price will rise.

The event begins at noon and ends at 6 p.m., and features a homebrew demonstration and tasting, a polka band, ticketed beer sampling and a beer garden.

The event is free and open to all ages, and sponsored by Neugebauer’s Fine Jewelry and Holiday Inn – Rushmore Plaza. Only those 21 years of age and older, with a valid ID, may consume alcohol. Main Street Square promotes drinking responsibly.

Advanced tasting tickets are available until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, at $30. Tasting tickets will be available at the event on Saturday, Oct. 5, at $35. Advanced tickets are available online at, by calling (605) 716-7979 or at the Main Street Square office at 512 Main St., Ste. 980.
