Destination Rapid City and the Rapid City Police Department will host the 2013 Cruiser Car Show & Street Fair on Sunday, July 14. Formerly known as Cruiser Night, this year's free event will take place downtown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in its third year of a new event format.
Classic cars will roll into the downtown area with parts of Main, Sixth and Seventh streets traffic-free as cruisers park and stay to show off the cars. In addition, attendees can enjoy a family-friendly street fair with vendors, live music and other entertainment.
Elvis will be in attendance for a meet and greet, and headlining band, The Potter Family, will be on the Main Street Square stage from 1-2 p.m. and 3-4 p.m. Local businesses and Rapid City Police Chief Steve Allender will present awards to their top car picks on stage at 2 p.m. with Mike Modrick as MC.
Kids' activities, police dog demonstrations, food vendors, beverage garden and vendors with auto-related items and services will round out the event.
There is no charge to participate but those who plan to bring a car are asked to register on the Rapid City Police Department website at http://www.rcgov.org/Police/form-cruiser-car-show-registration.html
to secure a spot. The registration deadline is July 1. Car show participants are limited to the first 450 vehicles.
