Main Street Square has received the 2013 Rapid City Cosmopolitan Club's Community Service Award. The award was presented to Executive Director Megan Karbowski by Beth-Anne Ferley at a Cosmopolitan Club meeting on Monday, April 29.
The Community Service Award is to recognize a community member, group or organization that supports the mission of the Cosmopolitan Club without becoming a member.
"Megan and Main Street Square continually supports us by requesting us to work at the events realizing that this funding will go to programs and groups within our community that helps diabetes and specific needs," Ferley said. "Megan was a hands-down choice and unanimously approved by the Cosmopolitan Board and the members of the organization."
The Cosmopolitan Club works several events at Main Street Square, including Thursday Nights at Main Street Square, Country Roots Festival, Art and Wine Festival, Dueling Pianos and more, checking identifications and helping with other tasks.
Main Street Square was nominated for the regional North Central Federation Community Service Award as a result of winning the award locally.
In August 2012, Main Street Square honored Bob White, with the Rapid City Cosmopolitan Club, as volunteer of the year. White organizes the volunteers and serves as a point of contact for Main Street Square staff.
