Q: Are pets allowed in the Square?
A: We are sure your pet is always on its best behavior, but for the safety of park visitors, please leave your dog at home. Service animals are welcome.
Q: Where should I park?
A: Downtown has many options to fit your parking needs. The first option is the city parking ramp with more than 500 spaces. Parking is metered on the first level of the ramp Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a coin machine on the east side of the Visitor Information Center/Skate Shack to better serve you. If you are visiting our venue after 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, on weekends or holidays, parking is free. You may park on Main Street, St. Joseph Street and many side streets for free, but parking is limited for three hours. Find out more on our parking page.
Q: Is there wi-fi in the Square?
A: Yes, choose MSS_Public. No password is required and the service is free.
Q: If I leave something in the Square, is there a lost and found?
A: Yes, if an item is left in the Square, it is kept in the Skate Shack/Visitor Information Center for 30 days. After 30 days, the items are either thrown away or donated to local charities. If the Skate Shack/Visitor Information Center is not open, visit our office at 512 Main Street, Suite 980, during business hours, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Q: Can I rent the Square?
A: Yes, you may rent the entire Square or areas at a fee. Please see our Book the Square page for more information, or call 605-716-7979.
Q: Can I skateboard or ride my bicycle in the Square?
A: For your safety and for the safety of others, Main Street Square does not allow skateboarding in the plaza. A skateboarding park is located a couple blocks north of the Square on New York Street, across from the Journey Museum.
Q: Can I perform on the stage or hold an event?
A: Not without the permission of Main Street Square staff. If you are a street performer, busker, street musician, minstrel, troubadour, etc. and wish to perform in the Square, to perform as part of on of our signature events, please contact the Main Street Square office.
